Epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepiphrine (noradrenaline), known as a neurotransmitter which belongs to the chemical class of catecholamines; derived from tyrosine. Both of these chemicals regulate attention, mental focus, passion, and cognition in humans. These neurotransmitters have about the same potential for all kinds of receptors; α and β. Thus, the effect on all network somewhat similar, although they differ in their chemical structure.

Epinephrine
Epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) is released by the adrenal gland and is responsible for the regulation of the body's response "fight or flight". It regulates the transfer of nerve signals between neurons and cells of the body and increases the rate and force of heart contractions. Epinephrine is usually released when a person is in tension or excitement. Unlike norepinephrine, epinephrine effects can not be predicted, because the differential sensitivity of the receptor. However, it has about the same affinity for α1 receptors including, α2, β1 and β2 with exceptions. The medulla is adrenaline is responsible for the production of epinephrine and mediates the action of epinephrine. Norepinephrine
Norepinephrine is an excitatory transmitter located on sympathetic nerves of the peripheral and central nervous system . It is more similar to epinephrine and secreted by the adrenal gland during stress conditions or passion. Norepinephrine increases heart rate to be released from the SA node. It also affects the flux of calcium in the heart muscle resulting dromotropik and positive inotropic effect.

Norepinephrine is used as a medicine in the treatment of septic shock in adults. Norepinephrine function in two main channels in the body. The first affects the behavior of the brain stem connects with axons in the hypothalamus and limbic system. Secondly, it affects the nerve canal extends from the brain stem to the cerebral cortex and hippocampus. Norepinephrine in the spinal canal regulate anxiety and tension.

Epinephrine also functions as a medication administered for a range of health conditions, particularly anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction. Epinephrine, the only immediate treatment for anaphylaxis, is also used to treat cardiac arrest, among other acute conditions. When administered to treat anaphylaxis, epinephrine functions to reduce symptoms by increasing heart rate, opening airways, and reducing swelling. These are the same effects caused by epinephrine released naturally by the body.

What is the difference between Epinephrine and Norepinephrine?
  1. Epinephrine has a methyl group attached at its nitrogen, while norepinephrine has a hydrogen atom in a methyl group.
  2. Norepinephrine is produced by postganglionic sympathetic fibers while epinephrine is only produced by the adrenal medulla.
  3. Norepinephrine effects largely mediated by the sympathetic nervous system, while epinephrine is mediated only by the adrenal medulla.
  4. Epinephrine is responsible for controlling all body tissues, while norepinephrine regulate parts of the brain, which is responsible for the mind-body relationship and respond to the action.
  5. Norepinephrine has a slightly greater affinity for binding to the receptor α of epinephrine.
  6. Effect of norepinephrine that is more predictable, unlike epinephrine because different sensitivity to receptor α and β.
